Now there is only one Roosters team left, Peckings would like everybody to get on board and head down to the Creek this Saturday and support the Junior Colts, the one remaining Roosters team, who are playing off for the ultimate prize in 2011. Unfortunately the A Grade team didn’t get across the line last weekend as the wind and the Hawks blew away their shot at a 4th Grand Final in a row. This was the 6th Preliminary final that the Roosters have playing in on end so whilst the main game was put out of reach the club as an entity has been travelling along just nicely. |

The venues on the first weekend of finals were not happy hunting grounds for any of the three Roosters teams left in the competition. Myponga oval Saturday saw the Junior Colts and the A Grade play their respective Qualifying finals, on a day that the sun shone on all except the Red teams. When Peckings left Strath for the journey to the other side of the peninsular the northerly wind was just starting to get its strength up, but it was just a bit of a breeze at Myponga when he got there. But that was early by the time the Colts game had started it had picked up and was getting ready to blow straight down the ground giving the southern end, probably, around a 5 or six goal advantage. |

CONGRATULATIONS SIMON MUNN Last night the GSFL Mail Medal count was held at the Hotel Victor and it is with great pleasure that I can report that the 2011 winner was Simon Munn from the Strathalbyn Football club with 23 votes, 4 clear of the next two players. Simon was recruited from West Adelaide when he retired from SANFL football last season after playing over 120 senior games for the Bloods. Simon is a fantastic footballer playing out of the centre and not only that is a fantastic guy. Wearing the number 7 for the Roosters he can be often seen by his young son Harry (around 3 or 4 year old) following him around before and after the match on gamedays wearing the same number on his back in his mini Roosters Guernsey – which I am told that he doesn’t like to take off. The Club congratulates Munny and he is definitely the favourite to take out the GD Jones medal in October in the club B&F count. |
